The Friends of Lansing’s Historic Cemeteries was formed in April of 2007, by individuals who are dedicated to the preservation of the City of Lansing Cemeteries. These cemeteries include North, Mt. Hope and Evergreen. In the spring of 2009, we established our 501-3c nonprofit status.
The FOLHC goals are to work with the city officials to help the cemeteries prosper and to educate the public. These beautiful old cemeteries are a part of our rich heritage and their preservation is of utmost importance.
Annually the FOLHC hosts a flower giveaway at the entrance of one or more of the cemeteries. These flowers can be placed on the graves of the recipient’s loved ones. We will help plant the flowers if there is a need. Watch this site for a date and time.
On the last Sunday of September a historic cemetery tour is presented. Each year a topic is selected and our historians develop this theme as it pertains to those who are resting in the cemetery. The tours usually last approximately two hours and refreshments are served.
